Accessible experiences in Levi
At Hile Outdoor, we want everyone to enjoy Lapland’s outdoor experiences. Some of our activities can be adapted to be more accessible. We are always happy to find creative solutions together.
Examples of how our activities can be tailored more accessible:
- Cross-country skiing with a sit-ski (must be booked in advance for rental)
- Joining a ski or snowshoe tour by being pulled in a sled
- Snowshoe tour on easy terrain
- Visit to a wilderness hut with a short transfer
If you have specific requirements, please contact us well in advance. Together we can plan how to make your experience safe, enjoyable, and inclusive.
When needed, we can help arrange adaptive equipment rentals through the Finnish Paralympic Committee’s equipment service, if contacted early enough and suitable equipment is available.
Our guide and ski instructor Salla has experience in in guiding people with different abilities, including:
- Guiding and coaching a visually impaired skier using helmet communication system
- Teaching and assisting alpine skiing for different abilities and using supporting equipment if needed
- Teaching and assisting alpine sit-skiing (mono-, dual-, and bi-ski, with or without outriggers)
- Leading sports and skiing clubs for children and young people with special needs
- Taking into account neuropsychological conditions and sensory sensitivities
We at Hile Outdoor are participating in the Accessible and Equal Lapland project by Lapland University of Applied Sciences, co-funded by the European Union. The project’s goal is to develop year-round accessible tourism services in Lapland. Through this network, we continue to learn and expand our accessibility know-how.
